As Filipinos commemorate 500 years of Christianity, everyone is invited to celebrate one of their most significant Catholic traditions, their devotion to the Blessed Mother.
This celebration is called “Flores de Mayo,” “flowers of May” in Spanish, where the faithful of all ages offer flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. The offering is followed by a Eucharistic celebration.
9:15 AM: Procession, Rosary and offering of flowers
10 AM: Outdoor Mass, celebrated by Very Rev. Michael Pham, Vicar General of the Diocese of San Diego
The concelebrants will be Rev. Nemesio Sungcad, the pastor of St. Mary’ Church, and the Filipino priests of the diocese. Rev. Romeo Gel Supnet will serve as the Homilist.
“Flores de Mayo” is organized by St. Mary’s Church, in collaboration with the Diocesan Commission for Filipino Catholics.
Masks and physical distancing will be required.
